In Turkey, in the 1980s, Music Publishing and Production Music (Music Library) first came to life with Muzikotek.

Y. Dağhan Baydur, the founder and chairman of Muzikotek began his musical career in 1963 when he formed his first band at the age of 13 Following many musical endeavours such as DJ'ing in the first discotheque in Istanbul, performing in the musical 'Hair' (1970) and writing many jingles for films and advertising, he represented Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 as a singer with his composition 'Sevince'.

In 1979, he moved to London. Working within the heart of the UK music business, he met many music moguls both in Music Publishing and in the Music Library industry. Realising the importance and the power of these missing fields in Turkey, he began promoting both which led to the founding of Muzikotek in 1986.

With a well-deserved respectable place on the international Music Publishing platform Muzikotek entered its 35th year in 2020.

Our main focus is to work endlessly in developing and improving the field of Music Publishing in Turkey and around the world, protecting, creating & promoting the wonderful music by our composers, writers & lyricists and ensuring that the world is never at a loss for good music.

The Muzikotek World Music Competition is very much part of our culture to support the creators in these difficult times.
